Our Priorities

First Fed Foundation supports projects and programs that improve the quality of life in Clallam, Jefferson, Kitsap, and Whatcom Counties.

Committed to creating broad impact that benefits low- to moderate-income, disadvantaged and/or marginalized individuals and families, we fund efforts that provide a range of community support, address homelessness and the availability of affordable housing, and contribute to both community and economic development.

In 2021, as in 2020, we extended our grantmaking to include efforts to address the urgent, critical needs caused and exacerbated by COVID-19.

 

Community Support:

We support non-profit and human service organizations that improve the quality of life within the communities we serve. We give priority to programs and projects that build capacity to better serve the broader community, and that benefit people who are disadvantaged.

Housing & Homelessness:
We support programs and projects that build upon First Fed’s legacy of improving the availability of workforce housing and access to decent, safe, and affordable housing for low- and moderate-income, disadvantaged, and/or marginalized persons or families in the communities we serve.

Economic Development:
We support initiatives that encourage and expand economic development opportunities in the communities we serve, with emphasis on coordinated public/private partnerships sponsored by local organizations dedicated to economic development.

Community Development:
We support capital projects that offer valuable benefits to broad segments of the communities we serve, with emphasis on coordinated public/private initiatives featuring multiple funding sources.

Pictured: The Olympic Peninsula YMCA’s new refrigerated van, funded with a grant from the Foundation, will deliver more than 46,000 meals annually to Jefferson County kids during school breaks and holidays.
